Introduction

New Blog. First post.

The long search for an internship place is over. Ozon Cycleries is a Berlin based company that designs and manufactures bikes made out of bamboo. And me? I’m a history student from Helsinki, Finland.

So what do I have to give for Ozon? I’m here to help in any way I can: marketing, product designing, manufacturing, planning for the future, researching, and blogging. So what do I know about bike manufacturing or bamboo as a material? Not much, yet.

So the next 10 weeks I’ll be reporting about my progress and craftsmanship. Topics will cover just about anything from different sorts of bamboo species to business planning and from mechanical details to riding experiences. Also, I’ll try to write a bit about cycling from a historical perspective.

The first assignment: build myself a new bike!

    ti ringrazio

    • Hi Giovanni,
Thank you for your comment and sorry it took so long to answer it. Unfortunately I don’t speak any italian, so I had to google translate your comment, hopefully it did justice to it.

In short, the answer is that you can take basically any bike geometry and apply that. Bianchi and Wilier for example have really nice track bike frames. Regardless of the brand name you’ll need the measurements and they are quite easy to find from the web.

Harder part is to build the joints securely. I can’t go into details on the techniques that Ozon is using. But there are many techniques and you can do a Google / Youtube search. Whatever technique you decide to use you must be really carefull and build the joints properly. Otherwise you might have issues with safety of the bike. Nobody likes crashing, right.

To answer your question in more detail I wrote this https://easybikerider.wordpress.com/2013/06/21/working-with-bamboo-4-how-to-build-a-bike/.
